Goof proof for everyone!!

Here I am again nearly to be ready to start again. After two long months of holidays in Spain, it is almost time to come back to Washington DC. However, before I come back, I would like to present a new product that my mom and I have been using during this summer in Spain, and of course we will keep using this fall and winter as well.

The product that I am talking about belongs to "Benefit Brow Collection".  Benefit is a well known and popular cosmetic brand from San Francisco (USA). This brand is not new, since it started in 1976 and I have been using some of its wonderful products long time ago. Therefore, I can say that all products of this brand have always fulfilled my necessities. For this reason, I have not doubted to trust in this brand again over others which offer similar brow products.

As you already know, today everyone wear a perfect brows since it give to our face a special touch. The problem comes when we are lack of hair in our brows and we have to fake it through drawing with pencils or other products. These technique make our brows look artificial and easy to notice that they have been made up, especially if we are not make up professionals as my mom and myself. This is the main reason why I decided to try Benefit Brow Collection, since I would like to return brows to my mom and make mine look better without the necessity of using makeup professional services.

In the picture you can notice that my mom is lack of eyebrows, but after the application of goof proof eye brow pencil  number 2 she gets eyebrows again in a natural way. They do not seem to be drawn, since the traces cannot be perceived thanks to the brush which helps to blend the traces. This product is very convenient if you have thin and skimpies eyebrows as my mom. However, if your eyebrows are shapeless or patchy there are other products that will fulfill your necessities and expectations. My advice is going to the store and tries by yourself some products. Do not buy online without trying, especially if you are not a professional or you are looking for a product easy to apply. First, you have to know which your necessities are and second which product is the easiest one for you to apply, since based on my experience not all of them are easy. For example I consider this product does not meet my necessities, but I still use it for fill some part of my brows lacking of hair. If you are wondering if you can combine several products, the answer is yes, probably you have to in order to get a perfect finish.

Do not over think and look perfect and natural eyebrows !

Alexa Chung, the new Dorothy, and the next Zara viral accessory: the red shoes

According to Vogue Spain, after the Yellow Biker the new viral garment could be these red shoes named: Mid heel shoes with straps, whose brand is, of course, ZARA: the low cost brand par excellence. Or at least it is what María Mérida suspects in the article that she wrote for this magazine. 

Agreeing to the sources, they are out of stock in both Zara Spain and Zara USA online shops. I also checked other countries such as China (including Hong Kong) and Japan. This search leads me that I cannot confirm that they are out of stock because these shoes do not even appear in the Zara shopping online webpage of these countries. However, if we take into account the Zara strategy, I can determine that they are sold out, since Zara usually sells online the same products that are found in its stores. 

If this is true, and it is clear a case of a new viral garment, I wonder what are the characteristics that make these products become viral? I do not think that just Alexa Chung or any other trendsetter are 100% responsible of this fact. Could be the combination of three factors? 

Trendsetter + price + association with a luxury brand= everyone want it 

-We have the trendsetter: Alexa Chung was wearing this shoes while she was recording the new fall/winter collection for AG. 

-The price in Spain, as we can read and check in the webpage, is EUR 30 while that in the United States the price is a little bit higher. It is exactly $49.90. More than affordable. 

-Association with a luxury brand: AG whose jeans cost approximately $200

How to reduce dark circles and relieve stinging eyes naturally

It has been a long time without writing a new post (sorry about that), but I have had rough weeks. However, here I am again with new ideas and post to write.  Today, I would like to dedicate this new post to introduce you a beauty trick/ tip that you may be already using, since it is very popular, but perhaps you can still find some useful information here, it is the reason why I am inviting you to read and share it.

Some days we wake up and when look at the mirror, the only think that we see is awful dark circles under our eyes. Then, we try to make them up using some anti-dark circles expecting that they go away and a miracle happens. Depending on the treatment that you are using, that miracle could happen (let me know if there is a good and cheap anti-dark circles, please write its name and brand bellow and I will try it). However, if you have not discovered any yet, and you still want to say good bye to your dark circles under eyes I recommend you to use slides of cucumbers. I am not going to discover anything new here, but just if you put your slides of cucumber in the freezer instead of the refrigerator you will see better results because when you put the slides of a cucumber which has just stayed in the refrigerator, the slides will become warm pretty quick, and it is not enough to ends with your dark circles under eyes.

Nevertheless, If you put the slides in the freezer and wait until they are frozen to put them directly in your eyes, they could be too much cold and this cold will last more time. I suggest you to leave 3 minutes out of the freezer and then, put them directly into your eyes for 10-15 minutes long. The best time is mornings but if you do not have too much time in the morning, you can do it at nights and it still works.

I have been using this trick for a long time and it worked very well. The only problem that I have found is during allergy seasons, especially spring. During this allergy seasons, I feel eye itching very often, so when I put the cucumber slices on them is just fine, but after a while my eyes start itching not just because of my allergy but also because the cucumber produces me that itch.  For this reason I just substituted cucumber for two chamomile tea bags during this season. It is a simple trick, the only thing that you have to do is to boil water and put the two tea bags, after 3 minutes, you can either drink the tea or just drop the water and, put the tea bags in the freezer until they remain frozen. After that, leave them outside from the freezer for 3 minutes before putting them on your eyes. This tip is good for reducing either your dark circles under eyes or relieving itchy eyes caused by the allergies.

Bye Bye tights....

Summer is almost around the corner. It is time to get our legs ready to say goodbye to the tights and let them walk freely. If you already got your laser hair removal, this post will not be useful, since I would like to focus on giving two useful tips or tricks to make a depilation more effective when traditional methods are used, especially if you remove your hair shaving it Although, this post could be also helpful to whom use waxing for removing hair.

The first step is to use an exfoliating sponge and wipe it over the skin, it will help to remove dead skin and let some of your possible encrusted hairs go out. The second step is complementary to the first one. This one is all about to wipe an exfoliating scrub over, I suggest you to use one which contains a granulated texture. These grains are important to get a perfect finish eradicating all those encrusted hairs that were not eliminated in the first step.

An exfoliating scrub will hydrate your skin while the blade of the razor will slip ease and softly. The third step is the depilation itself  (with wax or a razor). If you are depilating with wax, I suggest you to spread aloe in your legs after that. If, on the contrary, you have used a razor, you will not need to use any moisturizes because your skin will already be hydrate and ready to go.


Tip 1: If you are using a razor, I strongly recommend one which contain soap all over specially if your skin is sensitive. Some of my favorite brands, which are easy to find all over the globe: Gillette Venus and Schick Intuition.

Tip 2: Regarding the exfoliating cream, I suggest you to use one whose texture is dense and buttery. It will provide you extra hydration. The scrub  that I am using is Cocoa Butter, exfoliating salt scrub by The Somerset Toiletry Co.

"All-seasonal" casual dresses

Currently, I am living in Washington DC and my life is pretty busy, it does not allow me to go shopping quite often (I hope that situation changes in the near future). Therefore I suggest you to keep in your closet and/or baggage (if you are a traveler) a pair of the so-called seasonal dresses.
When I use the term "all-seasonal" I have in mind a short, single color dress or a classic dress whose design is a sophisticated pattern, an example of this last one would be a Jacquard-weave dress. Another important characteristic to take into account is the fabric; hence it should be made of a light and thin textile, such as silk, Georgette, Voile, Chiffon, etc which allows you to use it in warmer seasons. These are the basic tips that you will need to make the perfect choice.


Once you have selected the right dress, you will need accessories to help your outfit make it all-seasonal:
For fall/winter you will want to be warm. To get this goal you will have to make your dress look warmer as well. For this, you will need a pair of dark and thick tights (this color is always a win because it matches with everything), a pair of boots and a cardigan. Do not forget a purse whose color match with the color of the dress or boots. I would recommend a purse in a dark color like the tights.

For summer/spring, forget tights and warm/dark cardigans and focus on a nice  pair of sandals and a small purse or wallet bag, the color of these accessories should be the lightest possible. Tips: do not forget sunglasses, it is a summer/spring indispensable fashion accessory. Also, you will probably need to use cardigan for those rainy spring/summer days, then I suggest you to pick one in pastel or white color.

After finishing all arrangements for a vacation or business trip, the packing moment arrives. Depending on the duration of the trip or your convenience, you will carry a determined number of bags. However, this post is not about how many bags is the perfect number to travel with, but the best type of purse that you should carry besides your (check-in) baggage and/or carry on.

For this reason, I would like to introduce you what -I consider- is the most suitable purse to carry during a trip -and believe me I am an expert on this field-. Since I start traveling, in 2006 I did not stop catching (domestic, transoceanic, charter)   flights, trains, subway, bus, etc.  These circumstances allowed me to try different combinations of baggage: traveling just with a carry on, with a carry on and purse, just with purse, etc. The reason why I tried different combination was because I had no found a purse which was able to meet all the requirements to make my trip comfortable. Nevertheless, it changed in 2014, when my friends gave this ALDO handbag for my birthday. My first impression was kind of negative because that purse did not match with my purse style that I used to wear daily by then. However, I decided to give it a chance, and it led me to using it every day because I realized that it was very convenient. This wearing comfort helped me to make the decision to use it in a trip. From that moment, this purse becomes crucial in all my trips and let me discover the right characteristics that the perfect travel purse should possess.

What are the four features that a perfect travel purse should possess?
1. Size: No too big no too small. How do you know what is the size what I am talking about? First, try to put your laptop in the purse and close it.(Mac air or ultrabook) Of course, the laptop has to occupy almost all space in your purse, but there should have some room left in both sides of the laptop. This room will be occupied by your toilet bag and something else that you need (food, a folder, a bottle of water, etc)
2. Handles: Make sure that purse selected is a double handle because some trips are too long and you will want to change the way of wearing it.
3. Zip Zip: A zipper on the top please. It is more than essential. You will not want to lose anything.
4. Material: Synthetic, leather or any kind of material easy to clean. I do not recommend velvet or suede. Select always a rigid one.

Are curvy models really fashionable or is it just a marketing strategy?

When I decided to write this blog, I did not have in mind to write about news or polemic issues, since my goal was and still is to write about fashion trends, beauty and travel. Nevertheless, there had been a couple of news, regarding to the fashion world, which called my eye and made me wonder, are curvy models really fashionable, or is it just another marketing strategy?

These two questions came to my mind after reading the positive reactions that the last swimsuit line -Swimsuits For All- launched by Ashley Graham - plus size model and body activist- provoked yesterday. It contrasts with scandal in which Facebook has been caught up today, about the censorship of a Tess Holliday's picture -plus size model- because of showing “body parts in an undesirable manner.” If we compare both pictures, what is the difference that we find between them? We should not find too many differences because their targeted audience is the same: curvy women. All what we are supposed to observe is two curvy models posing with a swimsuit.

Therefore, why did Ashley Graham photos receive all outstanding critics by showing her body in swimsuit, and Tess Holliday was banned by mistake? Could have this mistake happened to one of Ashley Graham´s picture swimsuit collection?
